An ongoing collection of photos taken from my apartment in Bay Ridge

Some interesting facts about the bridge:

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is a double-decker suspension bridge.

It connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island, extending from Bay Ridge to Fort Wadsworth.

Construction on the bridge started in 1959, and it opened on November 21, 1964.

Every ship entering New York Harbor must be able to fit under this bridge.

It serves as the starting point for the New York City Marathon on the first Sunday of November.

Pedestrians and bicyclists are not allowed on the bridge . . . yet.

The morning sun shines off the bridge tower, and a flock of birds flies in front of the cables off to the right.

Donna: Brooklyn, New York; I've lived in Bay Ridge since November 2006 and love the presence the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge has in the neighborhood. Most of the shots on this blog are out my bedroom or kitchen windows. I'm strictly an amateur, using a Nikon Coolpix S200. I'll be updating the blog periodically, whenever the view strikes me.
